Our Mission
The Assembly of Liturgical Musicians (ALM) is a resource group for music ministers across the Archdiocese of Ottawa.
The focus of the group is to:
- Create a network of music ministers across the archdiocese
- Share resources and provide workshops
- Sing, pray, and support each other
All liturgical musicians, cantors, choir directors and choir members are encouraged to register with the assembly. Membership is free. A small entry fee is requested at workshops to assist with administrative costs.
Our MembersOver 150 music ministers from the archdiocese have registered with the assembly so far. We have made contacts with over 40 of the parishes in the diocese. Among our members are cantors, choir members and directors (senior, children, family and folk groups) music coordinators, liturgy directors, organists and other instrumentalists. The most commonly used instruments in our ministry are the organ, the piano and the guitar. Length of time of involvement in liturgical music among our members ranges from 1 to 48 years.
